Maple Garden
We can call Maple Garden a successful plan B. Initially, this area was supposed to be built for Kuo-Kuang Motor Transport Chao-Ma Transfer Station as well as Convention Center. But the construction didn’t finish and some legal disputes ensued. The city government and the city council eventually changed the planning and turned the place into the now Maple Garden.
Inside of Maple Garden, there is a cafe and art exhibition hall. There are workshops that we can join there, but if it happens to be no events on the day we visited, we can still see and buy the art and products offered on the spot.
We can also buy desserts and beverages inside Heart Valley.

This is a place to see arts, literature and theater plays. We don’t need to pay for any entrance fee here, but if we want to watch the plays, we have to book tickets ranging from 600-3800 NTD.
The architect who built this building is Toyo Ito, an architect from Japan who later won the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2013. You will see many holes and sound caves inside the building, because Mr. Ito wanted to create an architecture that can be listened to. The holes and sound caves are expected to give a wholesome experience of enjoying arts performances there, and it sure did! Many locals from other cities in Taiwan will visit this place if they go on a trip to Taichung.

Wu Pao Chun Bakery
This bakery is special because their bread won the bakers world-championship held in Paris in 2010. The two menus that won were Red Wine Longan and Lychee Rose. A delicious treat to accompany your relaxing trip.
Worry not, if it happens that those two award-winning bread in display is not enough, we can always let the staff know and they will prepare new ones right away for us. For every purchase, we will get their paper bag for free. We can also ask our bread to be cut at the cashier if we want to.
Besides bread, we can also buy their gelato. The gelato station is just outside the bakery.
